Traveling to Cuba was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I returned from this ten day trip on Wednesday and wish that I could have stayed longer. Cuba exceeded all of my expectations and I loved getting the chance to experience the culture there. My family and I stayed at a resort but my favourite part of the trip was the tours we did. We hired a tour guide to take us to the Bay of Pigs, Havana, and Mantanzas. In each of these places we were able to walk around the streets and country roads, sampling local cuisine and lots of food I have never had before. If I could only choose one place to go back to, I would definitely choose Havana. It is such a beautiful city and rich with history. I enjoyed exploring Havana’s cobblestone streets and we even happened to see the Rolling Stones sitting at one its cafes. On our last day in Cuba we went on a catamaran excursion that took us snorkelling, to a place where we swam with dolphins, and a deserted island for lunch. The weather was gorgeous and it was the perfect way to end the trip. Cuba is one of my favourite places that I have ever traveled and I am already dreaming of going back one day. Let me know in the comments your favourite place you have traveled!

Winter Wonderland

IMG_0759.jpgOn Thursday I got back from a week long ski trip with my Outdoor Education class. It was an incredible week to be up on the mountain and spend time with friends. We did downhill skiing, cross country skiing, biathlon, and snowshoeing. We do this trip every winter and I look forward to it each year. I love going this trip and am sad that this will be my last because I am graduating. I hope that you all had a great week and are enjoying the weekend. I am currently recovering from getting my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. My day has consisted of drinking smoothies and reading Eat, Pray, Love (my new favourite book!) to pass the time. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will see you soon! xx

Portland For The Holidays

Every year during the Winter Holidays my family and I go to Portland. We visit family while there and spend lots of our time exploring the city. My favourite places in Portland are Blue Star Donuts, Powell’s Books, and Anthropology. I am not someone that generally likes donuts but I make an exception for Blue Star Donuts. They are made daily from a fresh brioche recipe and are the most delicious thing that I have had. Powell’s Books is the largest book store in North America and I usually end up spending hours there. This trip I got the book Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham. I have heard such amazing reviews of it and am excited to start reading it. Anthropology is one of my favourite spots to shop in Portland and I always fall in love with everything in the store. There isn’t an Anthropology where I live so I make sure to go every time I travel to Portland. These are my three favourite spots but there are so many other incredible places to go in Portland. I hope that you are all having an amazing holiday and have a Merry Christmas Eve!
